Gives young children, ages 18 months to 2 ½ years, an opportunity to do meaningful work in an encouraging and stimulating environment. Children feel a sense of community among the other children and start thinking about the needs of others as well as their own. They form independent work habits, choosing a task and carrying it out from start to finish without intervention from an adult. By age 2, children can have quite a long attention span when working at something they are interested in thereby developing listening and concentration skills.
“These words reveal the child’s inner needs: ‘Help me to do it alone.’”
